And it has much to teach us: about loss, courage, hope and heartbreak; about what it is to be vulnerable and to be human. Nicci Gerrard is a journalist and author - with her husband writing bestselling psychological thrillers under the name of Nicci French, as well as novels in her own name. She is also a campaigner. In 2014 she founded John’s Campaign, through which the fight for more compassion towards those living with dementia when they go into hospital has changed hospital policy.
