We hope that you’re enjoying the Guernsey Literary Festival so far. We’ve had a brilliant first week of local author events and this week we are looking forward to welcoming more than 40 visiting authors to our shores!

Free Exhibitions and Displays

Don’t forget to visit our International Poetry Competition Winners’ Display in the gardens of the Priaulx Library, as part of our Poems on the Move exhibition. The display is open 9am-6pm each day until 16th June and is free to enter.

Join Šárka Lee to view her art exhibition entitled Extraordinary Adventures, which includes the original illustrations from her books The Bear Truth about Goldilocks and The Kingdom of Deep Sleep. The exhibition takes place at The Gate House Gallery from Friday 12th May - Sunday 14th May.

Education Programme in Schools

We’re excited about The Rothschild & Co Education Programme that is taking place during this year’s festival. The programme takes visiting authors into local schools across the island to support learning and inspire new ideas within children. Highlights for 2023 include talks and workshops led by Children’s Laureate Joseph Coelho, M. G. Leonard, Tom Percival, Sita Brahmachari, Onjali Q. Raúf, Liz Hyder, Huw Lewis-Jones, Rob Biddulph and many more.

Outreach & Community Programme

Our 2023 programme includes Mim Skinner hosting a writing workshop at Les Nicolles Prison, Paul Sherman speaking to the Guernsey Alzheimer’s Carers Group, Jag Sherbourne hosting an event at the Maison de Beauvoir Care Home, Marco Tersigni speaking at the Russels Day Care Centre and Terry Waite visiting the Guernsey Cheshire Home. The Outreach & Community Programme is kindly supported by the John Ramplin Charitable Trust.

Festival Bookshop

Lexicon Bookshop will stock Festival books over the whole period of the Festival. It is situated at 23–25 The Pollet. It will also be assisting with book signings and sales after individual events. There will also be bookshop at the Guille-Allès Library from Wednesday 10th to Saturday 13th May.
